throughout Rockland and the entire Hudson Valley. We provide this report every quarter to the community for an accurate picture of what’s happening in our local and regional real estate markets. But the year-end report is always special, because it allows us to take a broader look at the “big picture.”
So what’s happening in the market? The big story is that we’re starting to see a real tightening of inventory, which is usually associated with the beginnings of a “seller’s market.” Sales have now consistently gone up for most of the past four years throughout the region, and it’s only a matter of time before that starts to drive prices up. Indeed, our report argues that we’re about to enter a seller’s market, seven years after we hit bottom following the financial crisis of 2008.
